Stay in Your Own “Home” for Just ₹112 (A/C, Wi‑Fi Included)

Apna Ghar: Here’s some good news for truck, taxi, and bus drivers who work day and night across the country.

The government has launched a new scheme called ‘Apna Ghar’ to provide drivers with a safe and low-cost place to rest while traveling on national highways.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said this step will help reduce road accidents and improve the working conditions of truck drivers. These rest facilities will be set up at 250 petrol pumps nationwide.

These Facilities Will Be Available

Under ‘Apna Ghar’, drivers will get all basic amenities such as:

Air-conditioned rooms with beds

Parking space for vehicles

Clean toilets and bathrooms with hot and cold water

Food arrangements and space to cook

WiFi, kitchen, dhaba, and petrol pump access

While announcing the scheme on Tuesday via a social media post, Minister Puri said that most highway accidents are caused by drivers not getting enough rest or sleep.

These AC rest houses on highways aim to fix that problem by offering essential facilities in a clean and comfortable setting.

All This for Just ₹112

The cost of using the ‘Apna Ghar’ facility is very low—only ₹112 for 8 hours.

This is the first expressway scheme in the country where bus, cab, and truck drivers will get AC rooms, WiFi, kitchens, and dhabas at such an affordable rate.

Even better—if a driver fills 50 litres or more of diesel at the designated fuel station, they can use the facility free of cost.

Drivers can book these rest stops either through a mobile app or by walking in directly.

Easier Long-Distance Travel

Truck drivers can now easily rest during long trips by using the ‘Apna Ghar’ centres.

The scheme is being launched in areas with high cargo movement, such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and will soon expand across India.

The Ministry of Road Transport explained that driver fatigue is a major cause of road accidents.

‘Apna Ghar’ aims to solve this with a practical, effective solution that can be easily implemented nationwide.

These rest houses are built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and operated by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
