Tata Motors has increased the prices of its popular SUV Tata Safari, and the impact is now visible across several variants. The price hike mainly affects diesel models, while petrol variants remain unchanged—offering some relief to buyers.
Price Hike on Diesel Variants
The company has raised prices of Safari diesel variants by around ₹8,700 to ₹22,000, depending on the model. This increase applies to popular trims like Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished.
It also covers premium versions such as Plus, Dark, and Stealth Editions. Both manual and automatic variants are affected. Notably, higher-end models have seen a bigger price jump, while entry-level variants have a smaller increase.
New-Generation Safari in the Works
Tata Motors is also working on a new-generation Safari, though its launch may take some time. The upcoming SUV will be built on a completely new platform, replacing the current one based on Land Rover’s D8 architecture.
The new platform will support petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains, along with all-wheel drive (AWD) technology. It is expected to be longer and more advanced than the current model. Internally, this next-gen Safari is codenamed “Leo”.
More Features and Better Technology Expected
The current Safari already offers premium features like dual digital screens, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, powered tailgate, and Level-2 ADAS.
The Stealth Edition stands out with its black leather interior, giving it a more premium look. The upcoming model is likely to bring even more advanced technology and features.
Safari Electric Coming Soon
Tata Motors is also preparing to launch an electric version of the Safari before the festive season. This will be the brand’s first three-row electric SUV and is expected to become its flagship EV.
The Safari EV, internally called “Tayrona,” will be built on the same advanced platform used for the Harrier EV. With this launch, Tata aims to further strengthen its position in India’s growing electric vehicle market.
