North India is currently facing intense heat, with people in states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar struggling under severe heatwave conditions.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now shared some relief news.
According to the latest weather update, the heatwave is expected to continue for the next two days in North and Central India.
After that, temperatures are likely to fall from May 29, bringing relief from the scorching heat.
At the same time, several states may witness rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and even hailstorms over the coming days.
Heatwave to Continue for Two More Days
The IMD said that high temperatures and hot winds will continue across many parts of North India for now.
However, weather conditions are expected to improve after May 29 as rain activity increases in different regions.
Uttar Pradesh may start getting relief even earlier, with rain alerts already issued for several districts.
Western Uttar Pradesh is likely to see rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms between May 28 and May 31.
Heavy Rain Alert in Many States
The weather department has predicted scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall in Northeast India and nearby eastern states over the next few days.
South India is also expected to receive strong rainfall activity.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may witness heavy rain from May 27 to May 29.
States like Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Lakshadweep are also likely to receive rain along with thunderstorms and strong winds.
Thunderstorm Warning for North India
Several northern states may experience thunderstorms and strong winds reaching up to 70 kmph between May 28 and May 30.
The IMD has issued alerts for:
Delhi
Punjab
Haryana
Chandigarh
Uttar Pradesh
Rajasthan
Uttarakhand
Jammu and Kashmir
Himachal Pradesh
Some areas may also witness hailstorms and dust storms during this period.
Uttar Pradesh May See Big Weather Change
The weather in Uttar Pradesh is expected to change significantly over the next few days.
Both eastern and western parts of the state are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms from May 27 to May 31.
Heavy rain alerts have also been issued for some areas on May 29.
Apart from rain, hailstorms and dust storms are also possible in many districts.
Northeast and East India to Receive Continuous Rain
States in Northeast India, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are expected to receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Eastern states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also likely to witness rainfall activity during the coming days.
The IMD has advised people to stay alert during thunderstorms and avoid going outdoors during lightning and strong winds.
