Central government employees are still waiting for the next Dearness Allowance (DA) hike, which is expected to be announced around September or October this year.
But before the Centre’s announcement, several state governments have already given good news to their employees and pensioners.
Now, Jharkhand has also announced a major increase in DA, bringing relief to thousands of government workers and retired employees.
Jharkhand Increases DA for Employees and Pensioners
The Jharkhand government cabinet has approved a hike in Dearness Allowance under different pay commissions.
Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA has been increased from 58% to 60% for government employees and pensioners.
For employees under the 6th Pay Commission, DA has gone up from 257% to 262%, while employees under the 5th Pay Commission will now get 483% DA instead of 474%.
This decision is expected to benefit a large number of employees and pensioners across the state.
Several States Have Already Announced DA Hikes
Jharkhand is not the only state to increase DA recently.
Many other states have also announced hikes for government employees.

After the increase, DA reached 60% of basic salary.
The new rates are applicable from January 1, 2026.
The state government said this decision would increase its annual financial burden by around ₹1,230 crore.
However, nearly 16 lakh beneficiaries will receive the benefit.
Bihar, UP and Maharashtra Also Increased DA
The Bihar government also announced a DA and DR increase for employees under the 6th Pay Commission.
The DA was increased from 257% to 262%, effective from January 1, 2026.

Around 8 lakh state employees and nearly 4 lakh pensioners are expected to benefit from the decision.

Central Government Employees Now Waiting for Next Update
