The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued an important alert for all PF account holders.

The organisation has asked members to immediately check the mobile number linked to their EPFO account to keep their PF savings safe and secure.

This update is especially important because your registered mobile number is connected to several key EPFO services, including balance checks, password recovery, claim filing and KYC updates.

Why Your Registered Mobile Number Matters

According to EPFO, if the mobile number linked to your PF account does not belong to you, it should be updated immediately.

Members have also been advised to use the same mobile number that is linked to their Aadhaar card.

The registered mobile number is used for many important services.

It helps users recover forgotten passwords, receive updates about PF contributions from employers and check account details.

If another person’s mobile number is linked to your EPFO account, that person could receive your account information and may even misuse or tamper with your PF details.

Aadhaar-Linked Number Needed for Claims and KYC

EPFO has clearly stated that the mobile number linked with Aadhaar is necessary for several online services.

Without it, members may face problems while filing claims or completing e-nomination.

The Aadhaar-linked mobile number is also required for KYC updates because OTP verification is sent only to that number.

If the correct mobile number is not updated, members may not be able to access important EPFO services online.

EPFO Also Warns About Multiple UANs

Apart from mobile number updates, EPFO has also advised members to check whether they have more than one Universal Account Number (UAN).

If someone has multiple UANs, they should apply to transfer the old UAN into the current active one as soon as possible.

This helps avoid account confusion and ensures that all PF savings remain properly linked under one account.
