The Department of Information and Broadcasting announced on social media platform X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to offer health coverage to all citizens aged 70 and above.
This initiative aims to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for all senior citizens.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi expressed criticism toward the state governments of Delhi and West Bengal for opting out of the scheme.
He apologized to senior citizens over 70 years old in these states, stating that he is unable to provide them with assistance.
He attributed this shortcoming to the political selfishness of these governments, which he claimed is obstructing care for the sick.
The Prime Minister emphasized his desire to serve all citizens but mentioned that political barriers are hindering his ability to help the elderly in Delhi and West Bengal.
