Paying traffic challans in Delhi is set to become much simpler.

The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) is planning to introduce UPI, debit card, and credit card payments at the next Special Lok Adalat.

The move aims to make the challan payment process quicker, more transparent, and fully digital.

Once the system is introduced, people will no longer have to carry cash to settle their traffic fines.

Digital Payments to Speed Up Challan Settlement

DSLSA Additional Secretary Abhinav Pandey said that the new payment system will allow people to pay their traffic challans digitally on the spot.

This is expected to reduce delays and make the overall process more convenient.

The upcoming change is part of the authority’s efforts to modernize traffic challan settlements and improve the experience for the public.

Over 1.15 Lakh Cases Settled in a Single Day

During the recent Special Lok Adalats held across all seven district court complexes in Delhi, authorities settled 1,15,739 traffic challan cases.

These settlements resulted in fines worth Rs 2.24 crore.

In addition, the Permanent Lok Adalat at Mata Sundari Lane resolved 617 electricity-related cases, with settlements worth Rs 1.79 crore.

Overall, 1,16,356 cases were settled in a single day, leading to total recoveries and settlements of Rs 4.04 crore.

Paperless Process with Digital Lok Adalat App

The Special Lok Adalat also used the Digital Lok Adalat application, making the entire challan settlement process paperless.

The app was jointly developed by the DSLSA, the Delhi government, the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and the Delhi Traffic Police.

It offers several useful features, including an integrated database, barcode-based challan search, direct connectivity with the Delhi Traffic Police and Virtual Court Portal, and instant SMS notifications after a challan is settled.

Faster Service and Less Manual Work

Senior judicial officers visited different district court complexes to review the arrangements.

Facilities such as help desks, ramps, wheelchairs, medical assistance, drinking water, and security were provided to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

According to the DSLSA, the new digital system has significantly reduced the time taken to process traffic challans and shortened waiting times for people.

Officials also said it has cut down manual data entry, making the entire settlement process more efficient.
