There is good news for farmers in Rajasthan.

The state government has simplified the insurance claim process under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

With this major change, families of farmers who had crop insurance but passed away will now be able to receive pending insurance claims much more easily.

The move is expected to benefit thousands of farming families whose claims were stuck for a long time due to complicated paperwork and legal procedures.

What Is PM Fasal Bima Yojana?

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a government crop insurance scheme that protects farmers from financial losses caused by:

Unseasonal weather

Hailstorms

Cyclones

Heavy rainfall

Crop damage after harvest

The scheme also covers crops kept in fields for drying for up to 14 days after harvesting.

It acts as a financial safety net for farmers during natural disasters and crop losses.

What Was The Problem Earlier?

Earlier, if an insured farmer died before receiving the crop insurance claim, the family had to submit a court-issued succession certificate to get the money.

This process was difficult, time-consuming, and expensive for many rural families.

According to Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal, many families avoided claiming the insurance amount because the legal process was too complicated compared to the claim amount.

As a result, several crop insurance claims remained pending for years.

Government Issues New Instructions To Insurance Companies

The Agriculture Department has now instructed all notified insurance companies to settle pending claims of deceased farmers quickly.

Officials have been told to handle these cases with priority and human sensitivity so affected families can receive financial support without unnecessary delays.

The Agriculture Ministry of the Government of India has also appreciated this initiative.

Who Will Receive The Crop Insurance Claim?

Under the new process, the insurance amount will first be paid to the nominee registered on the National Crop Insurance Portal.

If no nominee is registered, the claim can still be released to a family member through:

Family consent

Succession certificate

Will issued by Tehsildar or Patwari

Mutual agreement among family members

This change is expected to make the process much easier for rural families.

Claim Can Now Be Processed With ₹50 Stamp Paper

One of the biggest reliefs announced by the government is that a court succession certificate will not be mandatory in cases where there is no family dispute.

If all family members agree, they can authorize one member to receive the insurance money by submitting an affidavit on a ₹50 notarized stamp paper.

After verification, the insurance company can directly transfer the claim amount to the authorized person’s bank account.

Documents Required For Crop Insurance Claim

The government has reduced documentation requirements for faster settlement.

Families now only need:

Death certificate of the farmer

Family consent affidavit

Aadhaar card copy

Bank account copy or cancelled cheque

Officials say this simplified process will help clear long-pending claims quickly and provide financial relief to affected farming families across Rajasthan.

Big Relief For Farming Families

The simplified PMFBY claim rules are expected to bring major relief to families who were struggling with delayed insurance payments.

By reducing legal hurdles and paperwork, the government aims to ensure that farmers and their families receive financial assistance when they need it the most.
