The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a major update that will make life easier for millions of employees.

If you changed jobs before the Universal Account Number (UAN) became mandatory or have an old PF account that isn’t linked to your current UAN, this new feature could help.

The update is part of the new EPFO 2.01 platform, which allows members to view their complete employment and PF history in one place.

EPFO 2.01 Platform Brings Complete Service History

EPFO has upgraded its Unified Member Portal by adding a Service History feature.

This allows employees to check details of their entire career from a single dashboard.

The new platform also helps users identify old or unlinked PF accounts that may have been missed over the years.

With a centralized database, members can access their records online without making repeated visits to EPFO offices.

This feature is expected to be especially useful for employees who switched jobs before UAN became compulsory.

Why Do Employees Have Multiple PF Accounts?

Before the Universal Account Number (UAN) was introduced, every employer issued a separate Member ID to employees.

As a result, whenever an employee changed jobs, a new Member ID was created.

Over time, many employees ended up with multiple PF accounts linked to different employers.

To solve this issue, EPFO introduced the UAN system.

Now, employees keep the same UAN throughout their career, and every new employer simply links a new Member ID to that UAN.

This makes PF transfers and account management much easier.

Who Will Benefit from This Update?

The new Service History feature can help employees:

Find old or forgotten PF accounts.

Check whether all previous PF accounts are linked to their current UAN.

Make PF transfers and withdrawals more smoothly.

View their complete employment history in one place.

This reduces the chances of missing PF savings from previous jobs.

Some Old PF Accounts May Still Need Manual Verification

Although the new feature will help many employees, some old PF accounts may still not appear automatically.

This usually happens because of incorrect details such as the employee’s name, date of birth, father’s or mother’s name, or errors in the old Member ID records.

If your previous PF account is still missing from your Service History, EPFO advises contacting your former employer.

Share your current Member ID and request them to verify and update your records so the account can be linked correctly.
