The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued a heavy rain alert for 22 states, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next few days.
According to the IMD, wind speeds may reach 50 to 70 kmph in some areas.
The department has also warned of possible landslides, waterlogging, flash floods, and falling trees, especially in vulnerable regions.

Rain is expected in eastern Rajasthan on August 5, while western Rajasthan may receive rain from August 7 to 9. Very heavy rainfall is likely in eastern Rajasthan between August 7 and 8.
Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand Face Heavy Rain Risk
Himachal Pradesh
Heavy rain is expected across most districts from August 5 to 10, including Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra and Chamba. Strong winds are also likely.

Several districts, including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Mohali, Bathinda and Jalandhar, may receive heavy rainfall on August 5, along with thunderstorms.
Uttarakhand
The IMD has issued a heavy rain warning for August 5 to 10.
Districts such as Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi may experience very heavy rainfall. The department has also warned of possible flash floods in several hilly districts.
