Bank of Baroda has issued an alert for its customers, especially senior citizens and pensioners, following a rise in digital fraud cases.
Scammers are spreading fake “Pensioner Card” offers on social media and messaging apps like WhatsApp.
These messages trick people into sharing personal and banking details, which can lead to financial loss.
The bank confirmed that it has not launched any new Pensioner Card online and urged everyone to treat such messages as fake.
How Scammers Trick People
Fraudsters use various tactics to target customers, including:
Sending fake Pensioner Card messages to create urgency or panic
Asking for sensitive information such as OTPs, PINs, CVV, Aadhaar, PAN, or bank account details
Sharing suspicious links claiming to be for “pension updates” or verification
Posing as bank officials or government representatives to gain trust
The bank emphasized that it never asks for confidential details via phone, WhatsApp, or SMS.
How to Stay Safe From Online Fraud
Bank of Baroda also shared simple safety tips for pensioners and senior citizens:
Do not click on unknown or suspicious links
Never share OTPs, PINs, or passwords with anyone
Avoid installing apps, especially screen-sharing apps, on someone’s advice
Always verify messages with family members or your bank branch
Customers are advised to ignore and avoid responding to suspicious calls or messages.
If anything seems doubtful, senior citizens and pensioners should immediately contact their nearest branch or official customer care.
