Weather Update: Heavy Rain and Winds in Next Few Days

The departing monsoon is expected to bring rain to several districts in Uttar Pradesh.

The Meteorological Department forecasts rainfall in five to six districts, including Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Balrampur, and Shravasti, from October 4 to 6.

This weather change is due to a western disturbance that is becoming active.

As it moves over Uttar Pradesh, it will strengthen because of the weakening monsoon winds, resulting in rain.

Rainfall Patterns and Statistics

The rain will mainly affect the Terai districts like Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Balrampur, and Shravasti.

During this period, light drizzle may occur in other districts, including Lucknow and Sitapur, as clouds move in. Strong winds are also expected.

Since June, four districts—Etah, Auraiya, Firozabad, and Hathras—have recorded the highest rainfall, receiving 60 percent more than the average.

In total, 14 districts have seen 59 percent more rainfall than normal.

In September, Lucknow recorded 171.2 mm of rainfall, slightly above the normal of 168.9 mm.

According to the Amausi weather center, Uttar Pradesh received a total of 744.3 mm of rainfall from June 1 to September 30, which is nearly average.

Lucknow received 696.7 mm during this time, which is about two percent more than the normal forecast of 683.3 mm.
