Getting Aadhaar-related work done has now become much easier. After the success of the two-shift Aadhaar service in the headquarters region, the facility is now being expanded to Head Post Offices across the state.
People can now visit post offices for Aadhaar enrollment, updates, and corrections during both the morning and afternoon shifts, reducing waiting time and making the service more convenient.
New Aadhaar Service Timings
Under the new system, Aadhaar services will be available in two shifts:
First Shift: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Second Shift: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
This means people who are unable to visit in the morning can now complete their Aadhaar work in the afternoon as well.
According to Postmaster General (PMG) Sunil Kumar Rai, the two-shift system was first introduced in the headquarters region in May.
The response from the public was very positive.
Between April and July 22, more than 91,650 Aadhaar enrollments were completed in the headquarters region.
During the same period, 3,66,537 Aadhaar update and correction requests were processed.
Higher Public Response Led to Statewide Expansion
Officials said the second shift made Aadhaar services much more convenient for citizens.
As a result, nearly 30% more people used the service after the additional shift was introduced.
Encouraged by this increase, the department decided to extend the two-shift system to Head Post Offices across the state.
The facility has already started in most districts, while the remaining selected districts have been instructed to implement it soon.
Aadhaar Services Running at 156 Post Offices
In the headquarters region, Aadhaar Seva Kendras are currently operating in 156 post offices across six districts:
Lucknow
Rae Bareli
Ambedkar Nagar
Sitapur
Barabanki
Ayodhya
Out of these, 19 Aadhaar Seva Kendras are already offering services in two shifts, with some centres remaining open until 6 PM or even 8 PM.
Apart from post office centres, Aadhaar services are also being provided at people’s doorsteps through 886 mobile devices, making the process even more accessible for residents.
