Google is making money management easier by bringing its AI assistant Gemini to Google Pay.
The new feature, called ‘Ask Google Pay’, will help users understand their spending habits, manage their budget, and receive personalized money-saving tips.
The feature is optional, which means it will remain turned off by default.
Users who want to use it will have to enable it manually in the app’s settings.
Google has also introduced the Google Pay Flex SBI Card on the RuPay network in India.
What Is ‘Ask Google Pay’?
‘Ask Google Pay’ is an AI-powered assistant that analyzes your spending and answers questions related to your finances.
Using Gemini AI, it can help users:
Track spending patterns
Get personalized saving tips
Understand monthly expenses in simple language
View suitable credit card offers
Check SIP and CIBIL score from the chat window
According to Google, while UPI has made digital payments easier, many users still have questions about where their money goes every month.
This new AI feature is designed to answer those questions quickly.
Ask Questions in Text or Voice
The AI assistant supports both text and voice conversations and is available in 10 Indian languages at launch.
Users can ask questions such as:
“Analyze my expenses from last week.”
“Which credit card is best for my spending?”
“Where did I spend the most money last month?”
The AI will analyze your financial data and provide easy-to-understand answers.
How the Feature Works
To provide personalized suggestions, ‘Ask Google Pay’ can use information such as:
Google Pay transaction history
Saved payment methods
Google account information
CIBIL report details
Google says users remain in control of their data.
Chat history with the AI can be viewed for up to 42 days, and users can turn off personalization whenever they want.
At present, the feature is being rolled out to selected Google Pay users in India.
How to Enable ‘Ask Google Pay’
Since the feature is disabled by default, users must enable it manually.
Follow these steps:
Open the Google Pay app.
Go to Settings.
Open Privacy & Security.
Tap Data & Personalization.
Turn on Personalization.
Return to the home screen and open the Money tab.
Under Ask about your finances, tap Ask a Question to start chatting with the AI assistant.
Once enabled, you can use Gemini AI to get smarter insights into your spending and make better financial decisions directly within Google Pay.
