Ather CSD Sales will begin from September 2026 after Ather Energy received approval to list its electric scooters on the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) portal.
The move will allow eligible armed forces personnel, ex-servicemen and their families to buy selected Ather scooters through the government-operated platform.
Customers purchasing through CSD will also be eligible for applicable GST benefits and an additional manufacturer discount on selected models.
Ather CSD Sales
Ather Energy has become one of the first electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India to offer its products through the CSD network.
The company will make the Ather 450 performance scooter range and eight variants of the Rizta family scooter available on the CSD portal.
However, the performance-focused Ather 450 Apex will not be offered through this channel.
Eligible buyers can purchase these models with a manufacturer-provided discount in addition to the GST benefit available on CSD purchases. The exact savings will depend on the selected model and variant.
The Canteen Stores Department operates under the Ministry of Defence and allows eligible defence personnel, veterans and their families to purchase a wide range of products, including vehicles, at concessional prices.
Ather Konark Launch on August 29
Alongside the CSD announcement, Ather has also teased its upcoming electric scooter, Konark, which is scheduled to launch on August 29.
A teaser shared by Ather CEO and co-founder Tarun Mehta showcased the scooter’s metal body, highlighting one of its key design elements.
The teaser also confirmed that Konark will be the first production model based on Ather’s new EL platform.
The EL platform was introduced during Ather Community Day 2025 and has been developed to support a wider range of affordable electric scooters.
Expected Features of Konark
Spy images indicate that the upcoming scooter will have a family-oriented design with a handlebar-mounted headlight, wide LED daytime running lights, a flat floorboard and a long single-piece seat for improved rider and pillion comfort.
The scooter is expected to be positioned below the Rizta in Ather’s product lineup, targeting buyers looking for an affordable everyday electric scooter.
EL Platform to Support Future Models
Ather says the EL platform has been designed as a modular architecture that can support multiple scooter models with different battery capacities, features and price points.
While official specifications are yet to be announced, earlier information suggests the upcoming scooter could be offered with battery options ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh
and an estimated riding range of 100km to 150km. The company may also use LFP battery technology to improve durability while keeping costs under control.
