The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has introduced new rules for booking LPG gas cylinders.

According to the new guidelines, consumers can now book their second LPG cylinder online only after 21 days from the delivery of the previous cylinder.

Oil companies have updated their software systems so that booking cannot be made before the 21-day period. These new rules came into effect from Friday, and all gas agency operators have been instructed to strictly follow them.

Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) Now Required

According to Chandresh Sharma, Treasurer of the Hadoti Kota LPG Distributors Association, it is now mandatory to provide a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) to the delivery person at the time of receiving the gas cylinder.

This code works like an OTP and is required to complete the delivery process. When consumers book a gas cylinder online using their mobile phones, the code is sent to them through a text message.

The delivery person will ask for this code, and only after verifying it will the cylinder be handed over.

e-KYC Made Mandatory for LPG Users

Association President Arvind Gupta said that e-KYC has now been made compulsory for LPG consumers.

In addition, LPG cylinder rebooking—whether online or through other methods—can now be done only after 21 days from the last delivery.

Earlier, consumers could book a new cylinder after a shorter period of around 15 days.

The new rule has been introduced to manage supply and address global geopolitical conditions. Guidelines related to commercial gas cylinders have also been issued.

No Shortage of Petrol, Diesel, or Gas

Oil companies have clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG gas in the country. Adequate supplies are available and are being delivered regularly.

They have also appealed to people to avoid using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes. Strict action will be taken against anyone found misusing them.
