The Haryana government has announced major changes to its women’s empowerment scheme, Deen Dayal Lado Laxmi Yojana.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

One of the biggest changes is the increase in the annual family income limit to ₹1.80 lakh.

This means more women can now benefit from the scheme.

Mothers of children achieving top grades, mothers helping children reach grade-level competency under the NIPUN Bharat Mission, and mothers who have helped free their children from malnutrition are now eligible.

However, women with more than three children will not be eligible for the benefits.

Eligibility will be verified through the Family Information Data Repository.

Monthly Assistance and Savings Plan

The scheme aims not just to provide cash assistance but also to encourage long-term financial security.

Eligible women will receive a monthly assistance of ₹2,100.

In the first month, the full amount will be credited to the beneficiary’s account.

From the second month onwards, the money will be split:

₹1,100 will go into a savings account.

₹1,000 will go into a government-managed recurring deposit (RD) or fixed deposit (FD).

The RD/FD will mature in a maximum of 5 years, and the full amount will be accessible to the beneficiary at that time.

Scheme Impact and Registration

Chief Minister Saini said the changes will strengthen the scheme’s impact, promote women’s financial empowerment, and encourage long-term savings.

Launched on September 25, 2025, the scheme targets economically disadvantaged women aged 23 to 60.

It was a key promise of the BJP before the 2024 assembly elections and helped secure the party’s third consecutive victory.

So far, over 10 lakh women have registered for the scheme.

With the new changes, the initiative now integrates education, nutrition, and social development criteria, giving a fresh direction to women’s welfare in Haryana.
