Heavy Rain to Continue for the Next 5 Days

The monsoon continues to remain active across India, with heavy rainfall expected in several states over the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning in different parts of the country.

Between August 14 and 20, several regions, including the Western Himalayas, North-West India, Central India, Eastern India, North-East India and parts of South India, are expected to receive widespread rainfall.

In some areas, very heavy rainfall is also possible.

Heavy Rainfall Already Recorded in Several States

According to the IMD, very heavy rainfall of around 12 to 20 cm was recorded in the last 24 hours in parts of Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar.

Heavy rainfall of around 7 to 11 cm was also reported in parts of eastern Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Konkan, central Maharashtra, western Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal-Sikkim, Assam and eastern Madhya Pradesh.

The weather department has advised people in affected areas to remain alert as rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to continue.

Delhi-NCR May Get More Rain

Weather conditions in Delhi-NCR have changed following heavy rain.

The capital has remained cloudy and windy, with the possibility of light rain in different parts of the city.

The IMD has forecast very light rain during the morning to afternoon hours, followed by a possibility of light rain in several areas later in the day.

Delhi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain around 33-35°C, while the minimum temperature could be between 26-28°C.

Heavy Rain Alert for Himalayan States

Rainfall is expected to remain active across the Western Himalayan region.

Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive widespread rain during the forecast period.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in some areas.

The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on different days.

People living in hilly areas have been advised to remain cautious because heavy rain can increase the risk of waterlogging, landslides and other weather-related problems.

Rajasthan, UP, Haryana and Punjab Also in Focus

Several parts of North-West India are also expected to receive rain.

Widespread rainfall is likely in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab, particularly during August 14 and 15.

Western Uttar Pradesh may receive rain between August 14 and 16, while eastern Uttar Pradesh could see rainfall between August 14 and 16 and again from August 16 to 20.

Parts of Rajasthan may also experience rain, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in some areas.

Heavy Rain Forecast for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Central India is also likely to see significant rainfall.

Western Madhya Pradesh may receive heavy rain between August 14 and 16, while eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh could see widespread rain through August 20.

Vidarbha is also expected to receive widespread rainfall between August 14 and 18.

The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Chhattisgarh. Very heavy rainfall is also possible in isolated areas of Chhattisgarh and eastern Madhya Pradesh.

Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha May Receive Heavy Rain

The weather is expected to remain unsettled across several eastern states.

Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive widespread rainfall during the forecast period.

Bihar may receive rain between August 16 and 19, while Odisha is expected to see widespread rainfall during several days.

Very heavy rainfall is possible at isolated locations in Jharkhand and Odisha.

Jharkhand may also experience thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph in some areas.

Rainfall Expected in Northeast and South India

The monsoon will remain active across the Northeast as well.

Arunachal Pradesh is expected to receive widespread rain during August 14-20, while Assam and Meghalaya may receive rain between August 16 and 20.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to experience rainfall on several days, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in some locations.

In South India, parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive rain during the forecast period.

Strong winds and severe weather conditions are possible in parts of Telangana.

IMD Issues Warning for Fishermen

The weather department has also issued a warning for coastal areas.

Rough to very rough sea conditions are expected over the northwest Bay of Bengal and along the coasts of Bangladesh, West Bengal and Odisha.

Strong winds of 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph, are possible.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea over the northwest Bay of Bengal and nearby coastal areas until the morning of August 15.

With monsoon activity remaining strong across several regions, people are advised to follow local weather alerts and take necessary precautions during heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning.
