UP Women Entrepreneur Scheme is being prepared by the Uttar Pradesh government to provide financial support to women associated with self-help groups.
Under the proposed scheme, up to 1 crore women could get interest-free loans of up to ₹1 lakh to start or expand small businesses.
The government is reportedly working to implement the scheme before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. However, all details related to its implementation have not yet been officially released.
UP Women Entrepreneur Scheme Loan Plan
Under the proposed scheme, women will receive the loan in different phases instead of getting the full amount at once. The first phase will provide a loan of up to ₹20,000.
Women who repay the first loan on time will become eligible for a loan of up to ₹30,000 in the second phase. After timely repayment of the second instalment, they can receive a further credit benefit of up to ₹50,000.
In this way, women who repay each instalment on time can access interest-free credit of up to ₹1 lakh. The main objective is to help women start small businesses or expand their existing work.
Scheme May Be Implemented Before Elections
According to reports, preparations to extend the benefits of the scheme to women have been accelerated ahead of the Assembly elections.
The government is working on the implementation plan, although complete details have not yet been announced.
The scheme is aimed at connecting women from self-help groups with self-employment and small business opportunities.
The interest-free credit is expected to provide financial support for women looking to develop their businesses.
Women to Get Special Credit Cards
Special credit cards are also proposed under the scheme. These cards are expected to include digital features that women can use for different business-related requirements.
The government also plans to connect women entrepreneurs with digital payments, digital marketing, online sales, financial services and modern enterprise management.
These facilities are intended to help women move beyond traditional small businesses and reach customers through digital platforms.
E-Rickshaw and Mahila Shakti Centre Plans
Other proposals for increasing women’s participation in economic activities were also discussed. According to reports, the government is considering a plan to provide vehicles worth up to ₹2 lakh under an e-rickshaw scheme.
A proposal to establish 100 Mahila Shakti Kendras was also discussed. These centres are expected to help women access government schemes, financial services and entrepreneurship-related support.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has directed officials to identify women associated with self-help groups and connect them with government facilities and schemes.
He also stressed the need to provide identification icons to women in these groups so they can be connected with relevant services.
The focus is also on expanding access to digital services and helping women modernise their businesses.
If implemented as proposed, the UP Women Entrepreneur Scheme could give a large number of women associated with self-help groups access to interest-free business credit and digital support.
