In a move aimed at enhancing the welfare of its citizens, the Rajasthan government has unveiled the Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme (Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana), providing a substantial relief package.
Under this initiative, individuals residing in the state are eligible for free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh.
Notably, this scheme is not limited to just the economically disadvantaged; even the middle-income segment can avail of its benefits without any financial burden.
Inclusive Eligibility Criteria
The Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme opens its doors to Rajasthan’s populace, enabling those with an annual income of less than Rs 8 lakh to apply for comprehensive coverage.
This inclusive approach extends its advantages to marginalized communities such as scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, and other backward classes.
Originally introduced in 2021, the scheme has evolved over time.
Initially offering cashless medical treatments up to Rs 5 lakh, it has been progressively expanded to Rs 10 lakh and now an impressive Rs 25 lakh, showcasing the government’s commitment to citizens’ well-being.
Wide Spectrum of Covered Ailments
Encompassing a diverse range of medical conditions, the Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme takes a holistic approach towards healthcare.
It extends its protective umbrella to encompass critical illnesses including but not limited to COVID-19, Black Fungus, Heart Surgery, Organ Transplants, Neuro Surgery, Paralysis, and Cancer.
Government Allocations and Infrastructure Enhancement
The state administration has earmarked a substantial budget of Rs 425 crore for the successful execution of the Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme.
Recognizing the need for accessible healthcare services, the government has concurrently introduced 25 mobile food testing ambulances and 10 Chiranjeevi Janani Express ambulances.
This strategic move is poised to ensure that individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can readily access quality medical treatment.
