On the occasion of World Environment Day, Punjab National Bank (PNB) has introduced new benefits under its “PNB Harit Niwas” scheme.
The bank aims to encourage people to choose eco-friendly homes and support a greener lifestyle.
The scheme has been designed to make sustainable housing more affordable while helping customers save money in the long run.
What is the PNB Harit Niwas Scheme?
PNB Harit Niwas is a special Green Home Loan scheme for people who want to buy, build, or upgrade environmentally friendly homes.
The scheme covers new green homes, ready-to-move-in properties, and under-construction houses.
It also provides financial support to homeowners who want to renovate their existing properties and make them more energy-efficient.
Special Benefits for Customers
PNB is offering several advantages under this scheme that are not available with regular home loans.
Customers will get an additional interest rate concession of 0.10% compared to standard home loans. The bank is also waiving processing fees, which means borrowers will not have to pay any loan processing charges.
In addition, there will be no documentation charges. To recognize the savings that come from energy-efficient homes, PNB has also increased customers’ loan repayment eligibility by an extra 5%.
Who Can Apply?
PNB has made the scheme available to a wide range of customers.
Eligible applicants include salaried employees, pensioners, self-employed professionals, business owners, and farmers with a regular source of income.
Anyone with a legitimate and stable income source can apply for the scheme.
Green Building Certification is Required
The benefits of PNB Harit Niwas are available only for properties that meet recognized green building standards.
Homes certified by organizations such as IGBC (Indian Green Building Council), GRIHA, or LEED will qualify for the scheme.
Through this requirement, PNB aims to promote environmentally responsible construction and reduce carbon emissions.
Financial Support for Home Upgrades
One of the standout features of the scheme is that it is not limited to new properties.
Existing homeowners can also apply for financial assistance to make their homes more eco-friendly.
This may include installing solar panels, setting up rainwater harvesting systems, or making other energy-saving improvements.
PNB’s Focus on a Greener Future
Speaking about the initiative, Subodh Kumar, General Manager of Retail Asset Business Division at PNB, said that the scheme is designed to make environmentally responsible housing more affordable and accessible.
According to him, PNB Harit Niwas will help customers lower their expenses while also reducing household energy consumption and contributing to a more sustainable future.
