These steps include implementing the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, restarting government recruitment, and speeding up border security work.

The Chief Minister also thanked voters and the Election Commission for peaceful elections in the state.

Government Thanks Voters and Election Commission

During the first cabinet meeting, the new Bengal government expressed gratitude to all voters and the Election Commission of India for conducting what it described as a violence-free and successful election.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari praised the Election Commission for its role during the polls and called its work commendable.

Tribute Paid to 321 BJP Workers

The cabinet also paid tribute to 321 BJP workers who reportedly lost their lives during the political struggle in the state.

Suvendu Adhikari said the government would ensure justice for their families. He added that the sacrifices of these workers would not go in vain and promised support for affected families.

BSF Land Allocation to Be Completed in 45 Days

Keeping border security in mind, the government has started the process of providing land to the Border Security Force for border fencing work.

According to the Chief Minister, the target is to complete the land allocation process within 45 days. The decision was taken considering national security and demographic changes in border areas.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme to Start in Bengal

One of the BJP’s major election promises was the implementation of Ayushman Bharat in West Bengal. The government has now officially decided to bring the central health scheme to the state.

The Chief Minister said all central schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will now be implemented in Bengal.

Bureaucrat Training and New Criminal Law Approved

The cabinet also approved the restart of central training and deployment of bureaucrats, which had reportedly been stopped during the tenure of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

In another major move, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has now come into effect in Bengal. From now onward, all new criminal cases in the state will be registered under the new law.

Government Recruitment Process to Restart

The Chief Minister admitted that no major government recruitment had taken place in the state since 2015.

He announced that a fresh recruitment drive will begin soon, in line with the promises made during the election campaign. According to Adhikari, these decisions will shape the direction of a “new Bengal.”
