To handle the heavy summer travel rush, Western Railway has announced special train services connecting Gujarat with eastern India.
These trains are designed to reduce long waiting lists and give passengers more travel options during peak days in April 2026.
Special Train Between Vatva and Howrah
A summer special train will run between Vatva (Ahmedabad) and Howrah Junction.
Vatva–Howrah (Train No. 09479)
Runs on April 20 and 26, 2026
Departs Vatva at 16:45 and reaches Howrah at 09:00 on the third day
Howrah–Vatva (Train No. 09480)
Runs on April 22 and 28, 2026
Departs Howrah at 19:00 and arrives at Vatva at 12:15 on the third day
The train will stop at several key stations, including Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat (Udhna), Bhusaval, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Prayagraj, Gaya, Dhanbad, and Asansol.
Passengers can choose from multiple travel classes, including AC First Class, AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper, and General.
Sabarmati to Asansol Special Train
Another special service will connect Sabarmati with Asansol Junction.
Sabarmati–Asansol (Train No. 09431)
Runs on April 20 and 26, 2026
Departs at 22:55 and arrives at 13:15 on the third day
Asansol–Sabarmati (Train No. 09432)
Runs on April 22 and 28, 2026
Departs at 16:20 and reaches Sabarmati at 07:15 on the third day
Major stops include Mehsana, Abu Road, Ajmer, Jaipur, Agra, Tundla, Prayagraj, Gaya, and Dhanbad.
This train will have Sleeper and General Class coaches only, making it a more budget-friendly option.

Ticket booking for these trains begins on April 19, 2026.
Passengers can book tickets through PRS counters or via the IRCTC Rail Connect app.
