The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is ready to welcome passengers.
Starting December 25, 2025, the airport will see its first commercial flights.
Airlines including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express will begin operations.
The airport aims to reduce pressure on Mumbai’s main airport and support the growing travel demand from India’s financial hub.
IndiGo Launches First Flights from NMIA
IndiGo will be the first airline to start full-scale operations from NMIA.
The airline will offer flights to 10 major cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Cochin, and Mangalore.
Initially, IndiGo plans 18 daily departures, totaling 36 flights.
Reservations for these flights are now open. IndiGo also intends to add more direct routes from the new airport in the future.
Akasa Air Expands Its Network
Akasa Air will also begin flights from NMIA on December 25, starting with the Delhi–Navi Mumbai route.
Soon, it will add direct flights to Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.
Tickets are available on the Akasa website, app, and other travel platforms.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder of Akasa Air, said that NMIA will help create a dual-airport system, improving connectivity and reliability for travellers.
Akasa plans to expand to 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures in the coming years, with long-term plans to enter Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets.
Air India Express Begins with 20 Daily Flights
Air India Express will start operations with 20 daily departures, connecting 15 Indian cities.
By mid-2026, this will increase to 55 daily flights, including up to 5 international routes.
By winter 2026, the airline plans 60 daily departures, building strong domestic and international links from NMIA.
Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, said NMIA will help Mumbai become a global aviation hub, connecting India to the world for both passengers and cargo.
