Air India Flight Cancellations: After the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, Air India flights have been facing regular technical issues.
The Tata Group-owned airline continued to cancel flights on Thursday (June 20). On this day alone, Air India canceled eight domestic and international flights due to technical problems and maintenance work.
The airline released a statement confirming that these cancellations were due to ongoing maintenance and operational reasons.
Eight Flights Canceled, Including Domestic and International Routes
According to Air India, four international and four domestic flights were canceled. These cancellations affected flights connecting cities such as Dubai, Delhi, Melbourne, Hyderabad, and others.

The international flights canceled include:
AI906 from Dubai to Chennai
AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne
AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi
AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad
The domestic flights affected are:
AI874 from Pune to Delhi
AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi
AI2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai
AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai
Air India to Cut Down 38 International Flights Weekly from June 21
On Thursday, Air India announced it would reduce its international flight operations by 38 flights per week from June 21 to July 15.
Additionally, services on three international routes will remain fully suspended during this period.
The airline, which has been dealing with disruptions following the Ahmedabad crash, said that cutting back flights on 18 international routes will help improve scheduling and avoid last-minute cancellations.
Temporary Reduction in Large Aircraft Operations
A day before, the airline also said it would temporarily reduce operations involving wide-body aircraft by 15%.
This decision will take effect from June 21, 2025, and will remain in place until at least July 15, 2025, according to a PTI report quoting an Air India statement.
Suspension of Some Routes and Reduction on Others
Flights on these routes will remain suspended until July 15:
Delhi–Nairobi
Amritsar–London (Gatwick)
Goa (Mopa)–London (Gatwick)
The Delhi–Nairobi route normally has four flights per week, while the Amritsar–London (Gatwick) and Goa (Mopa)–London (Gatwick) routes each have three flights per week.
Apart from the suspended routes, Air India will also reduce the number of flights on 18 international routes.
These include connections to cities in North America, Europe, Australia, and the Far East.
Specifically, flight frequencies will be reduced on routes such as:
Delhi–Toronto
Delhi–Vancouver
Delhi–San Francisco
Delhi–Chicago
Delhi–Washington
