An Indian tech professional working in the US on an H-1B visa has decided to return to India after losing his job.

In a social media post, he shared that months of job hunting, visa uncertainty and loneliness made him realize that returning home was the best decision for his peace of mind.

The post has gone viral, with many people supporting his decision and encouraging him to focus on his career and mental well-being.

Job Loss Turned Into a Long Struggle

The techie said he was working in a good role before being laid off. After that, he spent months searching for another full-time job, but the process became exhausting and never seemed to end.

He revealed that he came very close to getting a job at a MAANG company but missed out at the final stage.

He also admitted that he only applied for full-time positions and now feels he could have explored other options, such as consultancy jobs or an F-1 CPT program.

Despite those thoughts, he said he has now made up his mind to return to India.

Visa Pressure and Loneliness Became Too Much

According to the techie, life in the US was stressful even when he had a stable job. The uncertainty around the H-1B visa was always in the back of his mind, and he often felt lonely.

His personal life also took a hit. He shared that his engagement ended because his fiancée’s family did not support his decision to move back to India.

Even though he still wonders whether he was too rigid in his career choices, he believes returning home is the right decision for his mental peace.

Preparing for a Fresh Start in India

The techie said he is now preparing for the next phase of his career in India. He is studying LeetCode and System Design every day to improve his skills and secure a good role.

However, he also admitted that the rapid changes in the tech industry and the growing focus on AI have made him anxious.

After spending only three years in the US, he feels he has not made the career progress he had hoped for and will now need to adapt to the Indian work environment.

Social Media Users Back His Decision

The post received widespread support online. Many users called the move a “blessing in disguise” and said returning to India could open better career opportunities.

Several people advised him to prioritize his mental health, update his resume and continue preparing for interviews.

Others said that returning early in his career could help him rebuild faster rather than staying in an uncertain situation abroad.
