Millions of EPFO members have received good news. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited interest for the financial year 2025-26 to around 35 crore member accounts.
The biggest highlight is that this year the interest was credited to all accounts on July 15, much earlier than last year when the process continued until September.
This year, EPFO auto-processed around ₹1.44 lakh crore in interest using its new central database, making the entire process faster and more efficient.
Why was the interest credited so quickly?
The early credit of PF interest was possible because EPFO completed a major technology upgrade.
It merged 123 separate regional databases into one national database, allowing interest calculations to be completed much faster.
Around 1,700 crore transactions and employer records were shifted to the new system. The migration was completed on June 30, after which the interest was calculated automatically and verified by officials.
Along with this upgrade, EPFO also cleared around 11 lakh pending claims worth ₹3,000 crore in a single drive.

What if the interest is not showing yet?
There is no need to worry if the interest entry has not appeared in your passbook yet.
EPFO has clarified that due to the recent system migration, some passbooks may take a little longer to update. However, members will not lose any interest.
Under Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme, 1952, interest is calculated on the monthly running balance. Even if the passbook is updated later, the full interest amount will still be credited to your account.
