Amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, the Indian government has announced a major relief measure. On Friday, it declared a 30-day extension for all visas of affected foreign nationals.

This means that no penalty will be charged for overstaying during this period.

Announcement by the Indian Consulate in Dubai

The announcement was made by the Consulate General of India, Dubai through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Friday evening.

According to the statement, the relaxation applies to all types of visas, including regular visas and e-visas.

This decision comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East have intensified following military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

The situation escalated further after Tehran targeted US bases, oil facilities, and airports in the region, leading to a wider conflict.

Key Announcements on Visa Extension

The government has issued several important updates regarding visas for foreign nationals:

The visa extension and waiver of fines will apply to foreign nationals, including those from Gulf countries.

All visas and e-visas that have expired or are about to expire will be extended by one month for affected individuals.

The extension will be provided by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) on a case-by-case basis.

The penalty for overstaying after February 28, 2026 has also been waived for affected foreign nationals.

Exit Permit and Temporary Landing Permit Relief

Indian authorities have also announced additional relief measures for foreigners stranded due to the crisis.

Exit permits will be provided free of charge to affected foreign nationals.

Foreigners who fail to apply for exit permits or visa extensions during this period will not be considered to have violated immigration rules.

India will also provide Temporary Landing Permits (TLP) to foreign nationals who arrive in the country because their flights were diverted due to the crisis.

These measures are aimed at helping foreign nationals facing travel difficulties because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
