IndiGo has assured the DGCA that there will be no flight cancellations after February 10, 2026, when its exemption from the new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules ends.
The airline’s management met with regulators and confirmed that its current network, crew strength, and operational plans are ready to handle normal operations without disruption.
Adequate Crew Strength Ensures Operational Stability
According to the DGCA’s review on January 19, 2026, IndiGo has sufficient pilots to meet operational requirements:
2,400 Airbus captains available (requirement: 2,280)
2,240 Airbus first officers available (requirement: 2,050)
The regulator noted that previous disruptions were caused by crew mismanagement, weak operational systems, and over-extended duty schedules, which reduced roster buffers and affected service reliability.
Measures Taken to Stabilize Operations
In response, the Aviation Ministry and DGCA implemented emergency measures to stabilize operations without compromising safety.
These included:
Stationing flight operations inspectors and passenger support staff at IndiGo’s control centres and key airports from December 6 to 30, 2025
Monitoring crew availability, roster integrity, and system readiness
Requiring IndiGo to submit weekly and fortnightly reports on pilot strength, training, hiring, and other operational metrics
The regulator said these steps have stabilized IndiGo’s operations and improved reliability, while ongoing oversight continues to ensure compliance with FDTL rules.
Focus on Passenger Safety and Operational Compliance
The DGCA and Aviation Ministry emphasized that passenger safety and public interest remain top priorities.
By tracking pilot availability, training, and duty schedules, regulators aim to prevent future disruptions and maintain smooth airline operations.
This approach ensures that IndiGo flights will operate reliably after February 10, giving passengers confidence in timely travel while maintaining strict safety standards.
