The Department of Posts has made it easier for Post Office Savings Account holders to get a personalized cheque book.
From July 18, 2026, customers can now request a personalized cheque book through internet banking, without visiting a post office.
Earlier, customers had to submit their cheque book request at the post office counter. With this new online service, the entire process can now be completed from home.
What is a Personalized Cheque Book?
A personalized cheque book comes with the account holder’s name already printed on each cheque leaf. This makes cheques more convenient to use and helps avoid manual writing of account details.
According to the Department of Posts, the cheque book will be delivered free of charge to the primary account holder’s registered address.
Although the personalized cheque book service was first introduced on May 8, 2026, it has now been integrated with internet banking for easier access.
How to Apply Online
Applying for a personalized cheque book through internet banking is simple.
First, log in to your Internet Banking account. Then go to General Services → Service Requests → New Requests
and select Personalized Cheque Book Request. Choose Request Cheque Book under the Type of Operation and click Go.
Next, select your savings account, read and accept the terms and conditions, and click Submit Online. Finally, enter your transaction password to confirm the request.
Once the request is submitted, the screen will show the account holder’s name, delivery address, account type, joint account holder’s name (if applicable), request date, and registered mobile number.
Cheque Book Charges
Customers can get up to 10 cheque leaves in a calendar year free of cost.
If more than 10 cheque leaves are requested in the same calendar year, a charge of ₹2 per cheque leaf will apply. The applicable amount will be automatically deducted from the selected savings account.

This new online facility saves customers from making a separate visit to the post office just to request a cheque book. Anyone with internet banking can now place the request from home in just a few minutes.
The cheque book will be delivered directly to the registered address, making the process faster, simpler, and more convenient for Post Office Savings Account holders.
