Rail passengers in Delhi need to be alert.
Several ticket-related services will not be available for a few hours on November 22.
Some parts of the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will remain shut, which means ticket booking, cancellation, and inquiry services will not work during this period.
The Railways will replace an old core switch with a new one, and because of this upgrade, services will be affected from 11:45 am on November 22 to 4:45 pm on November 23.
To reduce inconvenience, the work has been scheduled during non-peak hours, when fewer people use ticketing services.
Which Services Will Not Work?
During the switch upgrade, the following services will remain unavailable:
Ticket booking and cancellation
Current reservation
Chart preparation
Internet ticket booking
PRS status inquiry
e-DR services
PRIMES application
The core switch plays a critical role in keeping the railway network fast and secure.
PRS services are normally very helpful for passengers, allowing them to book reserved and unreserved tickets without standing in long queues.
How to Use PRS Services Normally
To use PRS services, passengers need to:
Visit the IRCTC website or download the IRCTC Rail Connect app.
Create an account.
Book tickets directly through the app or website.
These services make ticket booking easier and help you plan your travel in advance.
Fog Alert: Many Winter Trains Cancelled for Three Months
Cold weather has started spreading across North India, and dense fog is slowing down trains every day.
Because of this, the Railways has cancelled 24 major trains for three months, from December 1 to February 28.
These cancellations will affect passengers traveling between Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and several other states.
Trains on routes such as Patna, Ambala, Prayagraj, Amritsar, Kamakhya, Kolkata, Ajmer, and Howrah are included.
The Railways has also shortened the routes of 28 more trains.
Some trains that used to run daily will now operate only two to four days a week.
On non-running days, the trains will be fully cancelled, but on running days, they will follow the regular timetable.
Anyone planning to travel during these months should check whether their train is operating.
Passengers can view the full cancellation list on the Railways website or at their nearest station.
Be prepared for long queues if you need last-minute cancellations or refunds.
