Zomato Parent Introduces Modern Parental Support Framework

Eternal Ltd, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, has introduced a revised Eternal Parental Leave Policy for its employees.

The company announced on Wednesday that the existing 26 weeks of parental leave at the time of childbirth can now be used flexibly over a period of three years.

Employees will also have the option to take part of this leave before the child’s birth.

Inclusive for All Parents

According to Eternal, this policy applies equally to all parents—regardless of gender, whether they give birth, adopt a child, or use surrogacy.

Niharika Mohanty, Vice President (HR), said the policy reflects modern parenting needs and shows the company’s commitment to creating a supportive environment both at work and at home.

Designed After Consultation and Research

Eternal stated that this update was made after extensive discussions with its parent employee community.

The feedback showed that family needs extend well beyond the initial months after birth.

Research cited by the company revealed that about 75% of working parents feel challenged in balancing work and family responsibilities—not just in the early months but until their child is around three years old.

Additional Benefits

The new policy is part of a comprehensive parental support framework. It includes:

Newborn insurance coverage from day one under the company’s group health policy.

Fertility and family planning support, such as egg-freezing coverage and infertility treatment assistance.
