YouTube has rolled out a feature many users were waiting for.

Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode is now available for free to users worldwide.

Earlier, this feature was limited to YouTube Premium users or people in the US.

But now, anyone can use it without paying.

This means you can watch videos in a small floating window while using other apps at the same time.

What Exactly Is Picture-in-Picture Mode?

Picture-in-Picture lets your video keep playing even when you leave the app.

Instead of stopping, the video shifts to a small screen on your phone. You can move it around, resize it, or close it whenever you want.

This feature works on both Android and iOS devices, making multitasking much easier.

There’s One Important Condition

While the feature is now free, there’s a small limitation.

PiP mode will only work for non-music content. In simple terms, regular videos like vlogs, tutorials, or news will support it.

Music videos, however, may still require a premium subscription to use PiP mode.

How to Turn It On

Enabling this feature is simple and takes just a few steps.

Go to the settings in the YouTube app and open “Advanced Settings.”

Look for the Picture-in-Picture option and turn it on.

Once enabled, just play any video and exit the app.

The video will continue playing in a small window on your screen.

A Big Win for Everyday Users

This update makes YouTube more user-friendly, especially for people who like to multitask.

Whether you’re replying to messages or browsing social media, you no longer have to pause your video.

By making PiP free for everyone, YouTube is clearly focusing on improving everyday user experience without forcing users to upgrade.
