In today’s digital age, social media has become a powerful way to express opinions. However, the Bihar Government has now placed strict limits on how its employees can use these platforms.

Under the new Bihar Government Servants’ Conduct Rules 2026, every post on platforms like Facebook and Twitter will be closely monitored.

Even a small mistake on social media could lead to serious consequences, including job-related action.

Strict Rules on Opinions and Public Comments

As per the new guidelines, government employees are no longer allowed to share personal opinions on government policies, schemes, or decisions without prior permission.

Not just that, employees are also banned from commenting on decisions made by the Supreme Court of India and High Courts on social media. Any violation of these rules will be treated as misconduct and can lead to strict disciplinary action.

No Space for Political Expression

The rules go beyond just posts and comments. Government employees are now prohibited from showing any form of protest or political support online.

This means they cannot use protest banners, political symbols, or even profile pictures linked to any political party. The aim is to ensure that employees remain completely neutral on digital platforms.

Permission is Mandatory Before Posting

The government has made it clear that employees must take permission before expressing their views on any issue publicly. Posting or commenting without approval will be considered a direct violation of the rules.

This step has been introduced to maintain discipline and protect the image of the government.

Ban on Office Content and Fake Profiles

The new rules also include strict restrictions on how official resources are used. Employees cannot link their personal social media accounts with official email IDs or mobile numbers.

Creating fake profiles or posting under false identities is strictly banned. In addition, sharing office-related photos, videos, or documents, as well as making reels or live streaming from office premises, is not allowed.

Overall, these rules make it clear that government employees will now be fully accountable for their online activity, with strict action for any violation.
