In a positive development for government employees in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a significant relief.
The Chief Minister, during his address at the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah/Nikah ceremony in Gillaur village of Bhairunda tehsil,
Sehore district, declared a 4% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees.
Approximately seven and a half lakh employees across the state will benefit from this decision.
Currently, there exists a 4% disparity in DA between central and state government employees, which will now be eliminated.
As of January 1, 2023, government employees were receiving a DA of 38% under the seventh pay scale.
With CM Chouhan’s announcement, the DA will rise to 42%.
However, this increase will impose an additional annual burden of one thousand crore rupees on the state government.
The Chief Minister has also assured that steps will be taken to address the concerns of employment assistants,
but no specific timeline was mentioned for the implementation of this hike.
Employees’ organizations in the state have been persistently urging the government to raise the DA for an extended period.
According to reliable sources, the Finance Department is expected to implement the 4% increase in DA from July 2023.
This decision will positively impact seven and a half lakh state employees, bringing them financial relief.
