EPFO Extends Deadline for Higher Pension till July 11

In a recent announcement, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has decided to extend the deadline for filing applications to opt for a higher pension until July 11.

This marks the second extension of the deadline.

Initially, the deadline was extended from May 3, 2023 to June 26, 2023.

The EPFO has taken this step to provide eligible pensioners and members with a final opportunity of 15 days to address any challenges they may encounter.

Apply by July 11

The EPFO stated, “The deadline for employees to verify their higher pension option has been extended until July 11, 2023.

An online facility has been introduced by the EPFO for the submission of applications to verify pension options/combined options on a higher salary.

This facility is in accordance with the order of the Honorable Supreme Court dated November 4, 2022.”

15-day extension granted

Raghunathan KE, a member representing employers in the EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees, expressed,

“The time limit for applying for a higher pension has been extended to 3 months for employers and 15 days for employees (members).”

He further explained that extensive verification is necessary for this process, as it involves financial transactions.

Commendation for EPFO’s action

He also commended the EPFO, stating, “We are pleased and appreciate the EPFO for providing a three-month time frame for employers and 15 days for employees.

Once again, the EPFO has demonstrated its consideration and compassion towards sectoral issues.”

In case of difficulties, register complaints

According to the statement, eligible pensioners or members who face difficulties in submitting online applications for the verification of their option/combined option due to issues with KYC updates can register their complaints on EPFiGMS for prompt resolution.

The statement added, “Please submit the complaint by selecting the complaint category ‘High Pay on Higher Pension Benefit.

‘ This will ensure proper record-keeping of such complaints for further action.”
