Maruti Suzuki’s popular hatchback, WagonR, has made a remarkable comeback in the Indian market and has reclaimed the title of the country’s best-selling car.
Surpassing competitors like Maruti Nexa Baleno, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Nexon, and Tata Punch, WagonR emerged victorious in June 2023.
In the previous month of June 2023, a total of 17,481 units of Maruti Suzuki WagonR were sold,
marking a decrease of 9 percent compared to the same period last year when 19,190 units were sold.
Regaining the Top Spot
Maruti Suzuki WagonR was once the reigning champion, holding the position of the best-selling car in the market. However, it had been overshadowed by Baleno for some time.
In a momentous turn of events, WagonR regained its status as the top-selling car in the country in June 2023.
Engine Options
Maruti Suzuki WagonR offers two engine choices in the Indian market. The 1-liter petrol engine produces 67PS power and 89Nm torque, while the 1.2-liter petrol engine generates 90PS power and 113Nm pickup torque.
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic, and there is also a CNG variant available.
Variant Lineup
With a total of 11 variants spread across 4 trim levels – LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+ – Maruti WagonR caters to diverse customer preferences.
Additionally, the LXI and VXI trims offer CNG variants as well. The petrol variants deliver an impressive mileage of up to 25.19 kmpl, while the CNG variants provide an eco-friendly mileage of 34.05 km/kg.

The starting price of Maruti Suzuki WagonR in the Indian market is Rs 5.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), while the top-end variant’s price reaches Rs 7.42 lakh.
