Mahindra Thar to be launched in Electric Variant on August 15

Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is set to introduce the highly anticipated Mahindra Thar Electric on August 15.

The concept EV of the Thar will feature a 4X4 set-up and is expected to showcase a quad-motor configuration with a unique crab steer or crab walk capability.

This capability allows the SUV to maneuver in tight spaces with the ability to rotate 360 degrees.

The EV platform for the Electric Thar will be newly developed by the company, bringing exciting advancements to the electric vehicle segment.

Engine Options and Specifications

Currently available in petrol and diesel versions, the Mahindra Thar offers three different engine options.

The petrol variant is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine that comes with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, delivering a maximum power of 152 PS and torque ranging from 300 to 320 Nm.

On the diesel front, there are two options: a 1.5-liter diesel engine generating 112 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission,

and a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 132 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque, offered with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

Strong Q1 Performance for Mahindra & Mahindra

In the first quarter results released on Friday, Mahindra & Mahindra showcased robust financial performance. The company’s consolidated net profit recorded a significant increase of 56.04% to Rs 3,683.87 crore in the June quarter.

Contributing to this excellent performance was the vehicle segment’s strong performance.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s operating revenue for the June quarter also witnessed a notable surge of 17.57% to Rs 33,406.44 crore compared to Rs 28,412.38 crore in the year-ago quarter.
