Yamaha has entered a new segment in India with the launch of its all-new YZF-R2 supersport motorcycle.
The bike comes with a fresh 204cc engine, aggressive R-series styling, and several premium features. The starting ex-showroom price is ₹2.30 lakh.
Price, Variants and Delivery Details
The Yamaha YZF-R2 is available in three variants. The base model is priced at ₹2.30 lakh, the YZF-R2 Quick Shifter costs ₹2.39 lakh, while the top-end YZF-R2 M is priced at ₹2.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The motorcycle comes in five colour options. Yamaha says deliveries are expected to begin from mid-September 2026.
204cc Engine with Quick Shifter
Powering the YZF-R2 is a new 204cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve DOHC engine. It produces 26.5 PS of power and 19.1 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch. The mid and top variants also get a third-generation bi-directional quick shifter for faster and smoother gear changes.
Sporty Design with Premium Hardware
The YZF-R2 takes inspiration from Yamaha’s bigger R-series motorcycles, including the R1 and R9. It features a bi-functional LED headlamp, LED position lights, and a stylish LED tail lamp.
The bike weighs 149kg and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm USD front forks and a rear monoshock for better handling.
Safety Features and TFT Display
Yamaha has equipped all variants with dual-channel ABS, traction control, and Yamaha Ride Control as standard. Riders can choose between Street, Sport, and Rain riding modes.
The bike also gets a 5-inch full-colour TFT display that shows riding information and supports navigation.
The top-spec YZF-R2 M adds premium features like a smart key, adjustable front forks, rear shock absorber, and adjustable clutch and brake levers.
