Yamaha YZF-R2 launched in India

Yamaha has added a new motorcycle to its Indian lineup with the launch of the YZF-R2 on Thursday, August 27.

The new bike comes with a starting price of ₹2.40 lakh, while the top variant is priced at ₹2.53 lakh.

The YZF-R2 will be offered in three variants and is designed around Yamaha’s sporty R-DNA.

The motorcycle combines a lightweight build with R-series styling and a focus on performance.

Yamaha YZF-R2: Engine and Performance

The new YZF-R2 is powered by a 204cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-valve engine.

The engine produces 26.5 PS of power and 19.1 Nm of torque.

Yamaha has used a lightweight chassis to make the motorcycle easier to handle. Its overall styling takes inspiration from the company’s R-series motorcycles.

Yamaha YZF-R2: Key Features

The motorcycle gets a 5-inch full-colour touchscreen.

It has a seat height of 808mm and a wheelbase of 1,304mm.

The lightweight construction is aimed at providing easier handling, while the sporty design carries Yamaha’s R-series influence.

The YZF-R2 continues the R-series approach of combining sporty styling with performance-focused riding characteristics.

Yamaha YZF-R2 Price and Delivery Details

The new Yamaha YZF-R2 is available in three variants.

The starting price is ₹2.40 lakh, while the top variant costs ₹2.53 lakh.

Yamaha is expected to begin deliveries of the new YZF-R2 from mid-September 2026.

The R2 series dates back to 2008, and the new YZF-R2 brings Yamaha’s R-series design and performance approach to a lightweight motorcycle for Indian buyers.
