UP Anganwadi Honorarium may soon be increased by 50%, with the Uttar Pradesh government reportedly preparing a major announcement for Anganwadi workers.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may announce the proposed increase in the coming period.

However, the increase has not yet been officially announced. The final amount, implementation date and other details will become clear only after a formal announcement from the state government.

UP Anganwadi Honorarium May Increase by 50%

If approved and implemented, the proposed 50% increase could benefit more than 1.5 lakh Anganwadi workers across Uttar Pradesh.

Anganwadi workers have been demanding an increase in their honorarium for a long time. The reported proposal could therefore provide additional financial support to a large number of women working through the state’s Anganwadi network.

Anganwadi workers perform several important responsibilities related to child nutrition, early childhood care and education, health awareness, and maternal and child welfare.

The exact revised honorarium has not yet been announced. Workers will have to wait for the state government’s official decision to know how much their payments may increase and when the new amount could take effect.

Government Reportedly Considering ₹50,000 Women Aid

Separately, the Uttar Pradesh government is reportedly considering a proposal that could provide financial assistance of up to ₹50,000 to women.

Discussions are said to be underway over how such assistance could be provided. One possibility being considered is transferring money directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.

Another possibility is to provide financial support through programmes linked to areas such as education, healthcare and skill development.

The reported ₹50,000 assistance should not be treated as a confirmed cash payment at this stage.

The government could also choose to expand or provide additional support through existing women-focused welfare programmes instead of paying the entire amount as a single lump sum.

Women-Focused Schemes Already Running in UP

Uttar Pradesh already operates several schemes aimed at providing financial and social support to women and girls.

These include the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which provides financial assistance to eligible girls at different stages from birth through their education.

Other initiatives mentioned include support for destitute women and widows, assistance related to the marriage of daughters from eligible poor families,

and programmes aimed at helping women build livelihoods through self-help groups and the Lakhpati Didi initiative.

The state also has programmes focused on supporting women and children affected by serious violence and initiatives intended to promote education and economic independence among women.

Workers Should Wait for Official Announcement

The proposed UP Anganwadi Honorarium increase could be significant for more than 1.5 lakh workers if it receives final approval.

For now, however, both the 50% honorarium increase and the reported financial assistance proposal for women remain under consideration or awaiting a formal announcement.

The final benefit amount, eligibility conditions and implementation timeline should therefore be confirmed only after the Uttar Pradesh government issues official details.
