The upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Uttar Pradesh is set to mark a significant milestone, as it has officially partnered with IndiGo to become the first airline to take flight from its runways.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between NIA and IndiGo outlines a collaboration to enhance air connectivity not only in Uttar Pradesh but also beyond.
The anticipated launch of IndiGo’s flights from Noida International Airport is projected to take place by the end of 2024.
Strategic Location: Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh
Situated in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, western Uttar Pradesh, the newly constructed Noida International Airport is positioned approximately 75 km from Delhi.
Once operational, it will stand as the second international airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the third commercial airport overall.
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of NIA, expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing IndiGo’s strong presence in both domestic and international markets.
Phased Development: Noida International Airport Ready in Four Stages
The ambitious Noida International Airport project will be completed in four phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
Upon the conclusion of this initial phase, the airport is expected to cater to an annual passenger movement of 1.2 crore. Initially featuring two runways, the airport will progressively expand its infrastructure.
Future Growth: Transformative Impact on Connectivity
Upon the completion of the fourth and final phase, covering 1,330 acres of land, Noida International Airport is projected to handle a staggering 7 crore passengers annually.
The comprehensive development of the airport comes with an estimated cost of Rs 29,560 crore.
This strategic collaboration with IndiGo is poised to not only enhance air connectivity but also provide a new and elevated experience for travelers, setting the stage for transformative growth and connectivity in the region.
