After weeks of intense heat and heatwave conditions, people in Delhi-NCR may finally get some relief.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a significant increase in pre-monsoon activity, which could bring rain, thunderstorms, and a noticeable drop in temperatures over the coming days.

According to the weather department, changing weather patterns and a cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and nearby regions are expected to trigger widespread rainfall across parts of North India.

Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Haryana Likely to Receive Rain

The IMD has said that pre-monsoon activity is likely to strengthen from June 11 onward, increasing the chances of rainfall in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab.

The expected rain could help bring temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius, offering much-needed relief from the extreme summer heat that has affected the region for nearly a month.

Strong winds and thunderstorms are also likely in several areas, with wind speeds reaching up to 50-60 kmph in some places.

Western Disturbance to Impact North India

An active western disturbance is expected to influence weather conditions across northwest India until June 13.

As a result, states such as Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh may experience rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next few days.

In some areas, dust storms and hailstorms are also possible.

Heavy Rain Alert in Northeast India

The IMD has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several northeastern states.

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are expected to receive intense rainfall, while parts of Sikkim and sub-Himalayan West Bengal may also witness heavy showers.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and prepare for possible weather-related disruptions.

Orange Alert Issued in Arunachal Pradesh

Several districts in Arunachal Pradesh are under an orange alert due to the possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.

Districts including Kamle, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, Siang, Leparada, Lower Siang, and East Siang are expected to experience severe weather conditions.

The weather is likely to worsen further on June 12, with more districts coming under the impact of heavy rainfall.

Monsoon Continues to Strengthen in Kerala

Meanwhile, monsoon activity remains active in Kerala, with rainfall expected to continue until at least June 14.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur districts.

A yellow alert has also been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, and Malappuram.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coast due to rough weather conditions.

Telangana Also Under Weather Alert

Several districts of Telangana have been placed under a yellow alert.

The affected districts include Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal, where rain and thunderstorms are expected.

Rain Likely Across Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh

The weather department has forecast scattered rainfall across Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, eastern Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh between June 10 and June 16.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive rain until June 13, while western Rajasthan may witness showers between June 11 and June 16.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds of 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph, are expected in several parts of North India during this period.

Hailstorms Possible in Some Areas

The IMD has also warned of isolated hailstorms in parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and western Uttar Pradesh.

Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated with local weather advisories and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and strong winds.

Heat Relief Finally on the Way

With pre-monsoon activity intensifying and rainfall expected across multiple states, many parts of India could soon see a welcome break from the severe summer heat.

While the rain may bring relief from soaring temperatures, it could also lead to localized disruptions, making it important for residents to stay alert and follow official weather updates.
