Canara Bank customers who frequently use ATMs may now have to pay more.

The bank has revised some ATM transaction rules from September 1, 2026.

The biggest change is for regular savings account holders, who will now get fewer free ATM transactions every month.

Some charges have also increased after the free limit is crossed. However, senior citizens can breathe a sigh of relief as their free transaction limit remains unchanged.

Here’s what Canara Bank customers need to know.

Free ATM Transactions Reduced for Regular Customers

Earlier, regular savings account holders could make 6 free ATM transactions in a calendar month.

From September 1, this limit has been reduced to 5 transactions per month.

The limit includes both financial and non-financial transactions. This means cash withdrawals, balance checks, mini statements and similar ATM services may count toward the monthly limit.

For senior citizens, the free transaction limit remains unchanged at 8 transactions per month.

So, customers who frequently use ATMs should keep track of their monthly transactions to avoid extra charges.

Cash Withdrawal After Free Limit Will Cost More

The charge for financial transactions after the free limit has also gone up.

Earlier, Canara Bank charged ₹20 + GST for cash withdrawals beyond the free limit at Canara Bank ATMs.

Under the new rules, this has increased to ₹23 + GST.

The charge also applies to ICCW transactions, which include cash withdrawals through UPI.

However, there is no change in the charge for non-financial transactions after the free limit. Customers will continue to pay ₹5 + GST for such transactions.

Failed ATM Transactions Will Also Cost More

There is another important change customers should know about.

If an ATM transaction fails because there is not enough money in the account, a charge may apply after the applicable free transaction limit is crossed.

Earlier, the fee was ₹17 + GST.

This has now increased to ₹23 + GST for transactions at Canara Bank and other banks’ ATMs.

This means customers should check their account balance before making ATM transactions to avoid unnecessary charges.

One Charge Has Become Cheaper

While several ATM charges have increased, Canara Bank has also reduced one fee.

The charge for Green PIN regeneration after the free limit has been reached has been reduced from ₹23 to ₹5 for certain card variants.

These include Classic, Standard, Platinum, Business, Select and World cards.

So, not every ATM-related charge has gone up under the revised rules.

What Canara Bank Customers Should Remember

From September 1, 2026:

Regular savings account holders get 5 free ATM transactions per month instead of 6.

Senior citizens continue to get 8 free transactions per month.

Cash withdrawals beyond the free limit now cost ₹23 + GST.

Non-financial transactions beyond the free limit remain at ₹5 + GST.

Failed transactions due to insufficient funds now cost ₹23 + GST, after the applicable free limit.

Green PIN regeneration for eligible card variants has become cheaper at ₹5.

If you use ATMs regularly, keeping track of your free transactions can help you avoid unexpected charges. It is also a good idea to check your account balance before making a withdrawal.
