The festive season might be over, but car companies are still offering big discounts to clear out their old stock before the year ends.
If you are planning to buy a new car, this could be the right time. According to industry reports, around 3.25 lakh to 3.3 lakh passenger cars were sent to dealers in November.
However, only 1.75 lakh cars have been sold in the first 20 days, meaning dealers still have a large inventory.
Why Are Dealers Offering Big Discounts?
The Federation of Auto Dealers Association (FADA) mentions that dealers have around 75 to 80 days of stock left, worth nearly Rs 75,000 crore.
This excess stock is pushing car companies to introduce aggressive discounts to move their inventory quickly.
Puneet Gupta from S&P Global Mobility explained that offering year-end discounts is a common strategy to clear old stock, and with so many cars unsold, this year’s offers are especially tempting.
