Delhi Metro Introduces User-Friendly QR Code Tickets on Paytm

In a bid to streamline the ticket booking process and enhance the convenience for travelers, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a QR code-based ticketing facility through the Paytm mobile app.

DMRC’s Innovative QR Code Ticketing Solution

Delhi Metro, in partnership with Paytm, has launched a user-friendly QR code-based ticketing facility to simplify the booking process for commuters across its extensive network.

This initiative was inaugurated by DMRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Vikas Kumar, and the Chief Business Officer of Paytm, Mr. Abhay Sharma, at the Metro Bhawan.

How It Works: Skipping the Queues

Travelers can easily obtain a mobile QR ticket through the Paytm app’s dedicated ‘Metro’ section.

By selecting their point of entry and destination on the day of travel, passengers can proceed seamlessly by presenting their smartphone to the QR code scanner at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates, both at entry and exit stations.

Notably, this feature was initially exclusive to the Airport Express Line.

Streamlining Commutes in the National Capital

Dr. Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of DMRC, emphasized the impact of this initiative on commuters, stating, “Introduction of this QR-based ticketing for all corridors of Delhi Metro through Paytm will facilitate efficient and hassle-free movement for lakhs of metro commuters in the National Capital.

In the recent past, we have taken a host of measures to facilitate digital ticketing, showing our commitment to the ‘Digital India’ initiative, aimed at providing government services electronically with improved online infrastructure and inclusivity.”

‘Skip the Queues’ with Paytm Mobile App

Abhay Sharma, Chief Business Officer of Paytm, emphasized the convenience of the new system, saying, “Using this facility, Delhi Metro Rail passengers will be able to skip the queues to buy tickets.”

Expanding Digital Ticketing Options

With the introduction of this user-friendly digital ticketing method, commuters can now conveniently book tickets from anywhere, eliminating the need for physical visits to ticket counters and the inconvenience of standing in long queues.

Multiple Digital Procurement Channels

DMRC is actively expanding its ticket procurement channels through various digital modes, including UPI, credit/debit cards, and net banking.

This initiative complements recent introductions such as QR ticketing via the mobile app, ticket vending machines, ticket windows, and even WhatsApp, all of which accept popular digital payment methods.
