LPG Gas Cylinder Rules have changed again, bringing relief for rural consumers who were earlier required to wait 45 days before booking another domestic LPG refill.
The government has now made the minimum gap 25 days uniformly for both rural and urban consumers.
The change comes as LPG supply conditions have improved and refill backlogs have reduced.
The earlier longer waiting period was introduced amid supply pressures linked to the West Asia conflict.
LPG Gas Cylinder Rules Now Set 25-Day Gap
Under the latest decision, domestic LPG consumers across rural and urban areas will have to maintain an inter-refill booking gap of 25 days.
For rural customers, this is a major change because the earlier rule required a 45-day gap between refill bookings. Urban customers already had a 25-day booking interval.
This means rural consumers using Indane, Bharatgas or HP Gas no longer have to wait 45 days to book their next LPG refill.
The new rule brings the booking interval to the same level across the country.
Before the supply-related changes introduced in 2026, the usual refill booking gap was 21 days.
It was later increased to 25 days for urban consumers and 45 days for rural consumers.
What Is The 30-Day LPG Rule?
The 30-day rule is different from the refill booking rule. It applies to households that obtain a piped natural gas, or PNG, connection.
Under the revised LPG regulations, customers who get a PNG connection are required to terminate their Indane, Bharatgas or HP Gas LPG connection within 30 days.
However, customers shifting later to an area without PNG infrastructure can obtain a transfer voucher.
This provision allows them to restore their LPG connection when they move to a location where PNG is not available.
What The New LPG Rules Mean For Consumers
The latest change mainly benefits rural LPG users by reducing the waiting period for their next refill from 45 days to 25 days.
The 30-day requirement, meanwhile, is linked to switching from LPG to PNG and does not mean that every LPG customer has to surrender their connection within 30 days.
LPG Gas Cylinder Rules now therefore cover two separate timelines: the 25-day gap for booking domestic refills and the 30-day period for terminating an LPG connection after getting PNG.
The government’s latest decision follows an improvement in LPG availability and a reduction in refill backlogs, allowing the earlier rural restriction to be relaxed.
