If you have a Post Office account, there’s good news for you.
The Department of Posts has introduced a new e-KYC facility that makes banking easier and faster for customers.
With this new system, eligible account holders can now deposit up to ₹50,000 and withdraw up to ₹20,000 without filling out any paper forms.
This means fewer visits to the counter and a smoother banking experience.
e-KYC Facility Now Available at Branch Post Offices
Earlier, e-KYC services were available only at departmental post offices.
Now, the facility has been extended to branch post offices as well.
The new service is available for customers holding:
Post Office Savings Account (POSA)
Recurring Deposit (RD) Account
Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA)
After completing e-KYC, customers can deposit up to ₹50,000 into their accounts from any branch post office without submitting a pay-in slip.
Savings account holders can also withdraw up to ₹20,000 without any paperwork.
However, transactions above this limit will continue to follow the existing process and may require additional approval.
Aadhaar Authentication Brings More Convenience
The postal department has also introduced another useful feature.
Once customers complete Aadhaar authentication, eligible account transactions can be carried out at any post office, not just the branch where the account was opened.
This will make banking much more convenient, especially for customers who frequently travel or live away from their home branch.
The department has also announced that from September 1, 2026, accounts that are not linked to a mobile number will not be able to use services through the DREAM app.
Who Can Use the e-KYC Facility?
The e-KYC service is currently available only for single account holders.
The facility will not be available for:
Joint accounts
Minor accounts
To use e-KYC services, customers must ensure that their Aadhaar number and mobile number are linked to their Customer Information File (CIF).
Once customers provide digital consent, details such as name, date of birth, and address will be verified directly from the Aadhaar database, allowing the account to be converted into an e-KYC-enabled account.
Post Office Expanding Digital and 24-Hour Services
The postal department is also taking steps to modernize its services.
To improve customer convenience and compete with private sector service providers, 24-hour services have already been introduced in 214 post offices across the country.
In addition, the working hours of around 4,000 post offices have been extended from seven hours to 24 hours.
These changes are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to provide faster, simpler, and more customer-friendly banking services.
