Raksha Bandhan is bringing some good news for women travelling to meet their families.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced free bus travel for women during the festival.
The facility will also be available in Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area, where women can travel without paying bus fares for a limited period.
Free Bus Travel From August 27 to 29
According to the government order, women can use the free bus service from 6 am on August 27 until midnight on August 29.
The decision comes as public transport is expected to see more passengers during the Raksha Bandhan festival.
Women travelling to their parents’ homes or visiting family members can therefore use the eligible buses without worrying about the travel fare.
Free Travel on 100 E-Buses
The benefit will be available on 100 e-buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) in Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area.
There is another useful benefit for female passengers.
During the three-day period, a woman passenger can also take one attendant with her for free.
This means the accompanying person will also not have to pay the bus fare during the specified period.
A Relief for Women Travelling During Raksha Bandhan
With many women expected to travel during Raksha Bandhan, the decision could provide both convenience and financial relief.
The special arrangement is aimed at making festival travel easier, particularly for women travelling between their homes and their parents’ homes.
