Delhi commuters now have a new travel option to make last-mile connectivity easier and faster.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), along with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has launched a hydrogen-powered shuttle bus service in the Central Vista area.

The new service has been introduced to help people who often face difficulties finding autos or cabs after exiting metro stations near important government offices.

These Areas Will Be Connected by the Shuttle Service

The hydrogen-powered buses will run between Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations and several major locations in the Central Vista zone.

Important places covered under the service include:

Kartavya Bhawan

Vigyan Bhawan

Nirman Bhawan

Akbar Road

Baroda House

National Stadium

National Gallery of Modern Art

India Gate

Seva Teerth Metro Station

The service is expected to make daily travel easier for office workers and visitors in the area.

Shuttle Timings and Working Days

The buses will operate only on working days from Monday to Friday. Services will remain closed on gazetted holidays.

To match office rush hours, the buses will run during two time slots:

Morning: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Evening: 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM

The timings are designed to help commuters during peak travel hours.

Affordable Fare and Multiple Payment Options

The shuttle service has been launched with affordable pricing for daily passengers.

The fare has been fixed at:

₹10

₹15

Passengers can pay using:

NCMC cards

UPI

Cash

This makes the service convenient for regular metro users as well as occasional travelers.

Hydrogen Buses Equipped With Safety Features

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has provided two hydrogen-fuelled buses for the service.

Each bus can carry up to 35 passengers and comes equipped with modern safety and monitoring systems, including:

GPS tracking

CCTV cameras

These features will help ensure passenger safety and smooth operations.

DMRC will manage ticketing, conductors, and passenger support, while IOCL will handle drivers and hydrogen fuel supply.

A Step Towards Cleaner Public Transport

The launch of hydrogen-powered buses is also being seen as an important move toward cleaner and greener public transportation in India.

With rising pollution concerns and increasing traffic in Delhi, such eco-friendly transport services could play a major role in the future of urban travel.
